BIG BANG’s G-Dragon to release a new solo album with Missy Ellio

   

 YG-Life, YG Entertainment's Yang Hyunsuk updates fans today (June 25th) regarding G-Dragon's solo comeback.

Starting the post with exciting news, Yang Hyunsuk reveals that G-Dragon will be releasing his 2nd solo studio album this year in August. "On August 18 2009, G-Dragon released his first solo album with the celebration of his 21st birthday. This year, he is planning to unveil another solo regular album on the same date as 4 years ago."

The album will consist of 10 tracks, composed, written and produced by G-Dragon himself. 

G-Dragon is expected to perform the final concert of his world tour this week in Singapore. Following the official end of his world tour, G-Dragon will continue to focus solely on shooting the cover and wrapping up the production of his 2nd album.

According to Yang Hyunsuk, instead of featuring several artists in G-Dragon's album, one legendary female rapper was invited - Missy Elliott, a legendary hip-hop artist in her own rights, and has released several hits including "Work It" and "Get Ur Freak On."

Due to health reasons, Missy Elliott halted her music career, which disrupted the release of an upcoming album. For months, YG Entertainment had sent her various G-Dragon related information, and finally gained her interest. 

The title track was produced by YG Entertainment's own Teddy, that features a similar hip-hop beat familiar in Missy Elliott songs, and will have a voice sample from the Korean traditional folk song, "Nilliliya." 

Ideas between G-Dragon and Missy Elliott were exchanged over the phone, with the agreement that G-Dragon would write the lyrics and rap to demonstrate, where she will then complete the song by writing her own rap.

World renowned DJ and songwriter Diplo will also be participating in the album.
