Korean Wave to Hit L.A with “KCON 2013″ Festival in August.
Korean Wave festival “KCON 2013″ will hit L.A. this summer, the fest’s promoter said on Friday.
CJ E&M said through a press release that KCON will put diverse Korean contents into one platform at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on August 24 and 25, which is a day longer compared to last year.
The festival is where fans can connect and experience Korean culture through Korean television programs, films, K-pop, fashion and beauty, the promoter added.
An official of CJ E&M was quoted in the statement as saying, “The Korean Wave started through Korean dramas and for the past few years, it spread through K-pop. Now, Korean culture is a global trend. KCON can be a platform to spread Korean contents, culture and related businesses. This year’s KCON is much larger than last year with diverse programs through which fans, Korean culture and Korean artists can connect.”
Mnet’s music program “M! Countdown” will also hit the city for the first time as a part of the festival where K-pop artists will get a chance to meet fans.
The festival was first held at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine last year which was widely covered by various media including CNN, Billboard, and Insider.
Last year’s festival featured artists including G.NA, EXO-M, B.A.P, NU’EST, VIXX and 4MINUTE.
